Question WiFi not found (Running Fedora 27 on (EXHD)

Iím running fedora off of my external hard drive, it uses the internet fine on my desktop but cannot detect it as such on my laptop. What should my next move be?

Probably a Broadcom wifi chip - PITA. Run this in a terminal (laptop) and post the output - use [code] tags for readability.
Code:
lspci -v | sed -nr "/(Ethernet|Network)/, /^$/p"
. Do you have wired internet available on the laptop ?.

Syg00, I do not have an Ethernet port as it’s an MBA but I could boot on my windows desktop. I also have another laptop that I downloaded mint on to in my early days that has wired connection

^ not following what mba means but the suggestion was to run lspci to determine what wifi adapter is in the pc. if its made by broadcom things become trickier (impossible ?) since they dont provide linux compatible drivers.

Unhappy

Code:
[liveuser@localhost ~]$ lspci -v | sed -nr "/(Ethernet|Network)/, /^$/p"
03:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Limited BCM4360 802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter (rev 03)
	Subsystem: Apple Inc. Device 0117
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 18
	Memory at c1200000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=32K]
	Memory at c1000000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=2M]
	Capabilities: <access denied>
	Kernel driver in use: bcma-pci-bridge
	Kernel modules: bcma
Okay so I have the live install drive with me, so I have booted up my Mac, put the drive in and ran the lspci in the terminal and..... its Broadcom,I'm on the internet right now because I'm connected to my bluetooth hotspot

Thanks!!! I’ll try that at home later and let you know how it goes. I’m somewhat new to all of this but I know I’m running my gpu and processor on the proprietary drivers but there’s open source ones you can use, why aren’t these WiFi drivers similar?

Because Broadcom are pricks. Intel provide binary blobs in a format that is acceptable to Linus to be distributed with Linux source.

Rather than use Enterprise repos with Fedora, maybe use RPMfusion instead - you'll probably find them more accommodating. Be careful not to do Fedora upgrades (ie. F27 -> F28) immediately as it takes some days for new (a)kmods to be built and made available. Give it a couple of weeks so others find all the bugs first. Have a read of this for a simple how-to.

thank ya syg00! I decided to go back to mint on my old repoed linux machine, it doesnt look like much but I got a sweet spot for her , I should pry start a new thread for this but I was watching some YT videos and saw Joe Collins using XFCE on mint and was intrigued, So I
Code:
sudo apt-get install mint-meta-xfce
and logged out and logged back in and I'm still on MATE, so Im not quite sure how to change the desktop enviroment

on my fedora it has something called gdm where you type in user/pass... there is a small gear icon under the username box that gives options for openbox, kodi, gnome, gnome-wayland, xfce, ...

Getting the MacBook going shouldn't be too hard - do it all from the desktop where the external boots and connects to the Internet. Adding the RPMfusion repo and modules for the Broadcom chip will not interfere with the desktop booting. Well, shouldn't anyway - you're simply adding more device support.
Then go back and boot the MacBook - the boot sequence should find the device dynamically. You might have to define the connection (and password) the first time.
