Wierd screen (stretched/squished) and Gnome wont Load
i mentioned this in another thread but that one was about something different. when i try to boot X the screen looks all squished and wierd
i was able to boot gnome (squished) but now i cant. thats my second problem. it will load up to the point where you have an X on the blk/wht grid then just stops. i (re?)installed xorg to try and fix the screen thing with no success. and i think that is what screwed up gnome. i got rid of and reinstalled gnome. it failed. so now i have a box that cant boot x all the way and what it does boot lookes stupid and stretched/squished, and i have (i think) half of gnome. gentoo linux on averatec 3150 not sure bout vid card. i know it would handle the default settings though. make sure your monitor settings are correct. refer xorg.conf & your monitor manual
may be because of wrong horizontal or vertical syc frequency settings |
