wicd install

I'm running slackware 14.1 on a Dell Latitude C610 laptop. Due to the small harddrive I did a very basic install which is now haunting me!

In trying to get the WiFi up and running I was advised in a WiFi dedicated thread elswhere on Linuxquestions to use wicd.

I installed it and received an error that could not find Python which I duly installed. Now I'm getting the following which I do not understand:

root@steve:~#wicd
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/user/share/wicd/daemon/wicd-deamon.py", line 46 in <module> import gobject
ImportError:no object named gobject

You'll need to install the pygobject package (it's in the slackware/l directory) on your install media or on a Slackware mirror. You're likely to be missing other stuff, too - pygtk for one. If you have enough space, I'd recommend installing all the packages found in the directory I mentioned.

Is slackpkg the utility to use?

I suppose you could use slackpkg for that - look at the documentation. If you've got the packages locally (e.g. on the DVD/CDs), you can also use installpkg or pkgtool.
