why xcompmgr appears to change background colour to hideous lilac?
hello folks
Running openbox window manager as openbox-session to allow openbox's autostart to load a few programs; one program is xcompmgr.
Before loading xcompmgr, I had the root window (background/desktop, whatever you want to call it?) set to black solid colour.
Changing it to other colours using xsetroot -solid [colour] worked fine too.
Then once xcompmgr is started, either by autostart or manually, it changes the colour to a horrible solid lilac colour....keeping it as that all the time. Using xsetroot has no effect; it stays as the lilac colour.
If xcompmgr is killed off, only then does it revert back to the black colour.
(incidentally compton is showing the same behaviour).
I have spent hours looking into xinitrc, xdg, xdm, xsession etc to no avail, in trying to see where this colour change by xcompmgr is being done.
Question: please help me track down why this is happening and what I can do to get the colour of my choice to stick around?
Thank you, Im pulling my hair out.
ps: im using Slackware 14.1 64bit.....I know my way around fairly well even though Im no expert.
