why wont mandrake linux 10 install?
I am new to linux. It looks good so i bought it from someone on the internet. I currently had windows 98 so i put the mandrake cd into the computer to install it. I got a dialog box displaying this:
You should back up your files. To back up press cencel to continue press ok. so i pressed ok. and nothing happened so i pressed it again. Then i learned that if you are using win 98 you need a floppy disk. so i coppied the file to the floppy disk. then restarted with both disks in the computer. i booted up in the linux menu. It said press enter to install or f1 for options or something. Any way i try to install it says: error please change disks or something! I dont know what to do. please help. thanks ac |
Only 1 mandrake cd? the downloaded edition is 3 cds?
If you have more than one, are you sure that you are using the first cd? |
If i remember right the 3 CD pack of Mandrake 10 you have to boot with the 2nd CD Media and then as it loads you have to put the 1st back to begin with proper installation and then 2nd and third CD depending on the packages you are installing.
