Why when I do the yum install something it always stuck

Why when I do the yum install something it always stuck at Parsing package install arguments? It is no response after that. Is that any wrong there?

Code:
[root@localhost download]# yum install net-snmp-devel
Loading "installonlyn" plugin
Setting up Install Process
Setting up repositories
core                      100% |=========================| 1.1 kB    00:00
http://ftp.twaren.net/Linux/Fedora/linux/extras/6/i386/repodata/repomd.xml: [Errno 4] IOError: <urlopen error (-3, 'Temporary failure in name resolution')>
Trying other mirror.
extras                    100% |=========================| 1.1 kB    00:00
updates                   100% |=========================| 1.2 kB    00:00

Thanks.

Try rebuilding your rpm database first.

Also run yum in verbose mode to see if any of your plugins are causing problems

Why should he do that? And why first? And doesn't the urlopen error (-3, 'Temporary failure in name resolution') exactly say what the problem is? DNS?

you are using fedora 6 .6 is no longer supported it hit it's END OF LIFE last year .
and the error is because there is NO folder called "repodata" any longer on that server because it is NO LONGER supported
install fedora 8 or 9 ( 9 if your hardware will work with 9 )

But my other FC6 machine is not facing this kind of problem. So far all the yum install I did is successful. But all the yum install I did in this machine is always stuck at Parsing package install arguments.

the repo is pointing to a dead server .Copy the one from the working fedora 6 box and replace the ones on the not working fedoea 6 box
/etc/yum.repos.d/( fedora.repo,fedora-updates.repo,livna.repo) -- all of them--

Yes, that is right. I missed the line with 'local'.
