Why video can't play by vlc or banshee or smplayer?


test.mp4 can be played with command.

ffplay  test.mp4
vlc,banshee and smplayer are all installed on my pc.

To play test.mp4 ,both vlc and banshee are all crashed.
The error info when to play test.mp4 with smplayer.

Thats pretty simple ffmpeg is built separate from the other packages welcome to the debian world. keep your repos close.
That means your ffmpeg was built with codecs that the others do not have. look at h264 > libx264.
By the way no such thing as automatic dependency finding. It is up to the debian source builder to write the deb you have no clue how many deb packages out there are broken. I do.
ldd /path/to/ffmpeg will show you what you have.
you may want to add the restricted repo and hope some one is pushing on the egde stuff so it may work.
ducks and sways at the deb folks built many source debs.

And it's strange that an debian8 os was installed on the virtualbox of same pc,and vlc installed ,test.mp4 can play!!!!

I've gotten that error with a cache size < 8192.

you already said ffplay workd and you showed a good ldd on the ffmpeg. you told us
