Why is my binary so big?
I've noticed my compiled programs are much larger when compiled on Debian or MEPIS, compared to fedora.
How can I get compiled programs to come out smaller in debian under gcc?

it's about the gcc version you are using, not the distro...
i believe gcc 2.95.x is regarded as the (non-embedded) version that makes the smallest binaries...

it may be your compile flags. if you have the -g, it's including debug code.
