why is growisofs changing my file names with data dvd?

When I burn a data dvd with growisofs it with shorten alot of my filenames, and it also makes them all uppercase, why does it do this and is there a way to fix it? I don't remember it having done this in the past (with previous installations).

What command(s) are you using?

It kinda sounds like you are burning an ISO image that was made without Joliet/Rock Ridge extensions.
