Question Why is compiling as root a bad idea?

One of the reason is that it may mess up the permissions on the resulting object code. Then, when you want to work back on, it will fail everywhere...

And more generally, unless there is no other choice, doing anything as root is a bad idea.

exactly its a "if it doesn't requuire to be root then never be" kind of thing
user can compile and experiment and run source code they are working on all day long without being root because its what non root computer users do.
