Why I cann't find the device created through device mapper in /proc/partitions

Hi all,
Recently, I created a device sc0 through device mapper. The divice could be found in /dev/mapper/sc0. My problem is that the device doesn't exist in /dev/partitions which will block my following test.
BTW, I found dm-0 in /dev/partitions. Is it the same as /dev/mapper/sc0? But the device /dev/dm-0 doesn't exist!

On my system, /dev/mapper contains symlinks to devices (/dev/dm-0, etc.). It's the actual devices that appear in /proc/partitions, not the symlinks. Can your test look up the symlink in /dev/mapper first and see what it is linked to?
