Unhappy why gun compiler doesn't work

Hi

I am a newbie in linux world and interested in this field. Thesedays
I got open source u-boot and try to compile in my red-hat 9.0 . But
when I type make, the message shows: make-- gcc command not
found.

Could any expert tell me why this happen and how to find the version

It means that gcc is not installed on your computer so you need to install it.
