Talking Why Fluxbox minimize my window ?

Hello everybody,

My fluxbox have strange behavior ...
When I use gimp, and I change workspace, fluxbox auto minimize all
secondary window of gimp. Only the main window stay open.
So it's possible to change this behavior ?

Note: This is same with other app with several window.

Thanx in advance.

I tested this on GIMP with Slackware --Current and was unable to duplicate it. It's a behavior I have not observed in years of using Fluxbox on multiple distros. There may be a Fluxbox setting to turn this feature on, but, if so, I am unaware of it and couldn't find it in a cursory look at the Fluxbox wiki.

Have you observed this with any applications besides the GIMP?

You might want to turn on logging in Fluxbox; there's a chance it might help sort this out. You do that in the ~/.fluxbox/startup file:

Code:
# or if you want to keep a log:
# exec fluxbox -log "/home/[username]/.fluxbox/log"

Well, that tells me that Fluxbox doesn't realize that anything is wrong.

What distro/version are you using and what version of Fluxbox are you running?

Also, what version of the GIMP are you running? If it's 2.8 or better, you could try using the single-pane mode; on the menu, that's Windows-->Single Window Mode. Test that, change workspaces, and report what happens.

So, I use Debian wheezy 64 bits :

Code:
Linux [HOSTNAME] 3.16.3 #8 SMP Fri Oct 10 15:44:36 CEST 2014 x86_64 GNU/Linux
And my fluxbox version:

Code:
Fluxbox 1.3.2 : (c) 2001-2011 Fluxbox Team
It's not the latest (it's debian wheezy ).

Next gimp:

Code:
Éditeur d'image GIMP version 2.8.2
But this behavior appear in other software like "Livecode".
Only the main window stay open.

So when I switch gimp to single-pane mode it's work but this doesn't solve problem.
But is good solution.

Quite correct that it doesn't solve the problem. It is at best a "workaround."

Until someone else can duplicate the problem (so someone comes along who has encountered this), it will difficult for someone else to suggest a fix. I have used the GIMP with Fluxbox on Debian (Lenny through Squeeze through Wheezy) and did not encounter this, so I fear it is something unique to your system.

You might try this: open a terminal and start the GIMP from the command line, then change workspaces and change back. There's a possibility that the closing of the extra GIMP windows might leave some messages in the terminal to provide a clue.
