I don't know Dream Linux, but it's based on debian, so you should have compiz in the repositories. - You should install compiz, Beryl is no longer in development, and the Beryl Team now works on Compiz too.
I suppose you already have the necessary 3d drivers installed?
According to your post count you are new here, which doesn't necessarily mean you are new to linux, but if you are you might want to try one of the more popular distributions at first (Ubuntu, Fedora Suse) they all make installing these things a matter of a few clicks, and you will find distribution specific help much easier.
I could tell you a failsafe way to install those things pretty much any distribution, but it would take a long time considering all possible problems you might run into.
