Why does Xconfigurator keep forgetting my XConfig?
Every time I reboot and try to startx, the Xconfigurator has forgotten the configuration file!
I can make it boot straight into X with graphical login but it's a pain as most of the time I only use X for web surfing and graphics. So every time I login, I fire up Xconfigurator, tell it my refresh rates, video memory, hat size etc. and after I logoff it forgets it ever asked these questions. Is my X Windows system smoking crack? Or is it just getting senile? Thanks for any help Bert |
Hi!
I don't know the reason for the problem that you described, but would it help if you changed the XF86Config's mode to read only (chmod 0444 XF86Config(-4)? Would that help as a first aid till you solve the problem? |
Thanks for the answer, Petteri.
That didn't do it, but this did: comment out the line FontPath "unix/:7100" to # FontPath "unix/:7100" because Redhat 7.x doesn't use this as the true fontpath anymore - it use Xft instead. Don't know why it suddenly started whingeing. Maybe it was just having a bad day. Ta Bert |
