Why does this happen with Kopete???

I run the ./configure and get this:
checking build system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu
checking host system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu
checking target system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu
checking for a BSD-compatible install... /bin/install -c
checking for -p flag to install... yes
checking whether build environment is sane... yes
checking for gawk... gawk
checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... yes
checking for kde-config... not found
configure: error: The important program kde-config was not found!
Please check whether you installed KDE correctly.

So apperantly, I need to install this kde thingy. I could really use some more info on that.

Please don't make this too complicated. Thanks.

You're not supposed to bump a thread up until at least 24 hours have passed - are you REALLY so impatient that you can't wait more than 27 minutes?!?!

Short answer: You need to install KDE. Check it out at http://www.kde.org/.

Which distribution are you running (e.g., Suse, Fedora, etc.)?

Do you actually have KDE installed? That looks like a pretty easy error to fix. Just install KDE.

If you have it installed, you probably installed it wrong. Come back after you installed it [again].

I was going to point you in the right direction but you obviously have no regard for others on this board. Smell ya later.
