why did I lose my table cell lines format when I changed the cell

lines were set to vertical and horizontal at .50 pt.
spacing to content was set at .04 syncronize.
I set spacing to content to .02 and unchecked syncronize then zeroed out top and bottom. Noticed that line arrangement had been changed to only a border and no vertical or horizontal lines yet pitch still set to .50pt. Went back to document and vert/heriz lines were not showing. This is anothe mystery change that happens frequently for me. Can someone fix the buggers I point out?
