Why can't I import sound or video to an open office file, on Fedora core 2?

So I'm using Fedora Core 2 with my soundblaster sound card, enjoying alsa, ect. But when I open up openoffice- impress to create a power point presentation, I am unable to import sounds. I click on the insert drop down menu, but the sound and video buttons are unable to be clicked. They are there, but unraised. I tried adding an ole plugin, and just clicking on an mp3 but that didn't work either. Can anyone help? please e-mail me at filter9309@aol.com

Matt
