Hi,
How come firefox cannot handle diacritics in CTL language? It won't display vowelled Arabic or Hebrew for me and a quick google shows the same problems with indian languages. I have the same problem with OpenOffice but that looks like it will never support diacritics so I use M$ Office on wine instead and have removed OOo completely.
I wondered whether it's a gnome thing as I use Suse 9.3 with Gnome and the only apps that can handle diacritics are BibleTime, Konqueror and Koffice.
I found this:
http://blacksapphire.com/firefox-rtl/
but it's lack of instructions render it useless to a non-techie like me. I tried patching the source code with the 'patch -p1 < filename' command that has worked with the few other files I've needed to patch in the past but nothing. It's annoying as I like Gnome a lot but only KDE apps seem to work. That's fine with most of them but I do want to use Firefox as Konqueror is a horrible web browser and I use a lot of firefox extensions.
I don't seem to remember having this problem with Ubuntu in the past but for reasons outside of this post it looks like I can only use Suse from this point on...
