which video editing program to use?

I am going to be getting into video editing soon, and i was wondering on some advice for which program to use, since i am newer to linux. I am using Slackware for distro and I have heard things both about Lives and Cinelerra. Any push in which direction would be appreciated.

Have not heard of Lives.
Have you heard of kino? It is not too bad but unstable when I tried it last (a year ago, may be different now)
Cinelerra I have not tried, but I heard it was very powerful, but insanely complex to use...

Why not grab the Live CD Dynebolic and try em BOTH ?

i have heard cinelerra requires a pretty hefty system (not what i have). But this dynebolic cd sounds interesting. I believe I will download that iso when i get home thanks for the advice, farslayer.
