Which version of Adobe Flash player do I install for Ubuntu 10.10?
Hi, I have just installed Ubuntu 10.10 on my laptop, and can't figure out which version of Adobe Flash Player to download. I have downloaded from the Ubuntu Software Centre the following: Adobe Air and Adobe Flash Plug In, but as things aren't loading I guess I still need to download the Flash Player itself. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can install Adobe's Flash Player plugin by entering on console:
Code:
sudo apt-get install flashplugin-installer |
Try using the Synaptic package manager. Do a search for flashplugin-nonfree. If it doesn't show you probably need to activate the restricted repository. I won't go into that now just in case the plugin is there.

Thanks for that, but hopefully without sounding too dense, how do I get to the console to type it in? I only installed ubuntu last night (have always used windows) so have absolutely no idea how to go about it!

As {BBI}Nexus{BBI} also said, you can do it by Synaptic, it is a "graphical" way to do the same thing. Both ways have the same results. You can find Synaptic at System menu, Administration, Synaptic Package Manager. Hope it heelps :) |
Here are some useful references. I think that you would find the one at about dot com to be very helpful. I had been using Linux for several years when I stumbled over it and was still favorably impressed.
