which program will monitor another programs memory usage?

i am trying to find a program that will monitor another programs memory usage.

i know that things like top and ps can do this, but they show a percentage usage, i am wondering if there is a program that will show me how many Megs a process is using and its high and low usage. ideally i would like something like the time command, that i can use to launch the program and have it show me highest memory usage, lowest etc.

if anyone has any suggestions, i would very much like to hear them.

and indeed it did, almost exactly what i wanted. with a lil massaging of the log and a few more peices of data in there, it will be perfect for the job.
