which nvidia driver to choose? + useradd problem

i'm trying to download nvidia drivers for my slackware installation, and the only drivers i can find are for linux IA32, linux AMD64 and linux IA64. i have no idea which one to download. i am using slackware 9 on a i686 system. [pentium 4 processor, geforce 4 ti4600].
please, i need some advise here.

//edit
ahh...and while i'm at it i might as well post another problem.

i've added a user with useradd <username> -m and created a password for the user with passwd. when i login using the new user name (GDM) i can't start the terminal. it starts for a second, and then dies. anyone have an idea?
