the realplayer plugin doesn't work with firefox
and realplayer doesn't work with redhat9, there is a work around but i only used it for audio and xmms does the trick so i didn't look into it

there is a mozilla-plugin-vlc, but I've never tried it
i presume you would need vlc installed
(vlc = video lan client but it is a fairly decent media player)
there is a redhat rpm version available

Realplayer 8 works with Firefox for me. I've just been watching a Finley Quaye video at that site. You need to download some extra video codecs from Real to get video working properly. http://realforum.real.com/cgi-bin/un...=5&part=1&vc=1 The mplayer/mplayerplugin works with most Windows media player and Quicktime formats for me, but it can be complicated to install so I would suggest you download a copy of Beyond Linux From Scratch 5 and follow the instructions for the mplayer in that.

I found out on that site you can have the player play them externally aswell as embedded, but when i click play in realplayer, realplayer loads but then says 'you do not have the permissions to auto update, contact your sysadmin' or something a lot like that, even when im logged in as root? Is there a reason for this if so how can i fix it?

@salparadise

RealPlayer DOES work on RedHat 9 (at least for me). I have found and rpm that works pretty good. Is real player 8 and the rpm is for RH9.
