Which Java Runtime Environment to use?
 
Apparently OpenOffice demands using 1.4.1 SDK package from Sun, but for LimeWire you need one from IBM? Is there any way of just using one? Or do I have to have both installed on my box? If I have to have both installed, how can I make sure that one doesn't overwrite anything of the other?

You don't need a special one from IBM to use limewire. Getting the environment from SUN or blackdown.org is the best thing to do.

Then why doesn't Limewire see my JRE? I mean, OpenOffice detected it automatically....

OpenOffice is probably smarter about where to look for Java than limewire is. Do a search here on Java install and you'll find many threads that step you through it, including setting your PATH and JAVA_HOME environment variables.

By the way, I didn't have any problems installing LimeWire while I had my JAVA_HOME set.
