Which is the linux upload tool


I happened to need to upload some files(Apache,MySQL and PHP)to a remote web server from my local computer.I should use which linux software tool to do that.Thanks

I am assuming you just need to transfer binaries or something...
There are many ways but if you have FTP access I would use that.

Thank you very much for a so quick answer.I have FTP but how use it.I have got:The remote server's IP,FTP account and password.

I use gFTP for such tasks but you could also use the command line ftp client (man ftp) or a browser that supports ftp uploading in the format

ftp://user:password@ip.address.or.url
(Note Most browsers support this out of the box but Firefox needs an extension)

Or you can use scp if there is SSH access.

What should I do after coming to prompt ftp> for uploading files to a remote server from my local computer.

should do the trick

type help at ftp> prompt for more commands

Be sure to choose 'binary' or 'ascii' before uploading or downloading files.

if you want to see your progress you can type 'hash' and it will show you a progress as your file uploads or downloads. you can see what your session has turned on or off by typing 'status'

text files such as html, txt, php are considered ascii.

files such as deb, rpm, tar, zip and gz are considered binary files.

to retrieve a file you can use 'get'.
