Which is the best Web page creation app for a newbie?
Which is the best Linux web page creation app for a complete newbie who knows nothing about HTLM etc? I'm looking for something that's dead easy to use, I don't need to create a mega complex web page just a nice simple, clean, pro looking home page.
If you want a professional looking web page, you need to learn HTML. Period. These editors are just going to delay the inevitable. Do yourself a huge favor: head to www.w3schools.com and learn XHTML (HTML with scricter standards) and CSS. Then learn a few things about web images (sizes, formats, etc). Here's a decent link just about GIFs vs. JPEGs: http://www.tips-tricks.com/gif_jpeg.asp (you can use PNGs instead of GIFs; they'll do everything GIFs do, but they're non-proprietary).
After some practice, you can realize anything you envision.
I'm looking for something like this, too. Lots of things are available to edit and create websites, but I need a replacement for MS Frontpage. It's not the editing feature, it's the way it publishes to the web. I have a site from work that is only available with frontpage. I can't use ftp. I think Samba is overkill for what I am looking for.

As far as I know, Frontpage is the only program that supports Microsoft's web publishing protocol. I would find a new host, if they don't even support FTP. Even free space providers generally provide FTP...
Thank you! I guess I needed to hear that... so I don't keep looking. Samba doesn't do that, does it? I can't really tell my employer to get another host, but I can stop using it and find something else for the same purpose.
For example, on Yahoo and Tripod I can save files while I am at work, and access them at home. I needed a way to work on files at both locations, and I was using My Network Places (not Network Neighborhood) to open the files, and then save the files. I could then edit a file at home or at work, without having to put them on a disk, PDA, or email them to myself.
