Which email program has both GUI *and* can be configured to use vim?

My systems admin set me up with Thunderbird. This is fine as far as it goes, but Thunderbird'd editor is very hard for me to use. I find vi, nvi, or vim best. My question is: what email software displays graphics and can also be condigured to use vim?

There are free pluging like vimperator and another one that I've forgotten, but isn't there anything for Ubuntu that can present graphics and allow vi?

TIA,

gary kline

From the claws-mail FAQ.

Quote:
Can I use a different editor to write my mails?
Yes you can. In '/Configuration/Preferences/Compose/Writing' select the option 'Automatically launch the external editor'. The editor of your choice can be set in /Configuration/Preferences/Message View/External Programs'. Remember, if you want to use a command line editor like vi or emacs, to write the name of the shell (%term%, %term%, %rxvt%) with the -e parameter in front of the editor.

Re:claws-mail,

I asked a few hours ago if there was a mail utility that displayed graphics and could be set to use vim. After three hours, the claws wizard is close, but not quite there. One frame asks:

"Server type"; i changed that from "pop" to "imap" because my sysadmin has my ~/.muttrc set up with IMAP. Back to the wizard. It asks which:

"Server address:" and in the blank following has "pop.tao" . Of my 4 desktops, i am setting up claws-mail in "tao.thought.org". Can anybody clue me in regarding what I should replace "pop.tao" with?

My domain is super-protected so the only way I could mess up is my doing something severely Stupid.

thanks in advance for help here.

Wihtout knowing who your mail provider is, answering these questions is difficult.

It would likely be best to contact your system administrator or visit your mail provider's website to find the correct server and port settings.

If you have been using Mutt, you might have a .fetchmailrc (or similar rc file) that you could search for the server settings. The number of *nix programs that can be used to fetch mail is rather large. Again, your system administrator might be able to help.
