Which email client do you prefer: Thunderbird with muttator, or mu4e in emacs?

Besides thunderbird is heavier, are there other significant pros and cons?

I used GNUS. It is good choice for emacs users. (I was using gnus+offlinemap+dovecot, but recently started using isync instead of offlineimap).

I'm using Thunderbird. But especially large Newsgroups folders are very slow. Especially folderpane.js crashes again and again.

There are certainly enough choices!

I switched from Thunderbird to Evolution, and then I discovered Claws Mail and I've used that ever since.

I don't currently access a news reader, but in the past I've used Pam with no problems.
