I was curious on what the community would recomend for the following situation:
Options:
SUSE 9.2 Pro
Fedora Core 3 (Heidelberg)
Mandrake 10.1 Power Pack
Xandros 3.0 pro
Possibly others (I actually have the distros above in my possession)
I want to be able to set up a communication line between a few Mac's (OS X 10.3.7), a windows PC (Xp sp2) and a Linux box. I want to be able to set up communications between them using SSH for remote access (away from the internal network) and SAMBA for the internal network.
I also have 2 external 120gb maxtor USB 2.0 drives that must work with the system.
Well, all those distros will do what you need as far as I know(not sure about the USB drives). The question is which distro are you familiar with? Its a lot like buying a car. They're all going to get you from point A to point B its just a matter of HOW you want to do it.
With that said, I would personally go with Fedora out of those choices. Its the most widely used and has good support.
I'm quite familiar with Mandrake and Fedora. You are certainly correct; I would be most comfortable there. SUSE was added because I've heard some excellent things about it, and I've haven't really had any experience with it. Xandros 3.0 the same, I read a few reviews on it, they looked quite positive.
Wanted opinions....
Anyone out there suing SUSE or Zandros whom would like to offer their opinions?
