just remember any linux distro is going to be whatever you make it. I personally can't stand ubuntu and I don't like the sudo aspect. When I tried ubuntu I had to change that and put a root account back in it. But you could get "damn small linux" and build off that and it would be just as good w/o stuff you don't need.

Your needs seem generic enough that almost any distribution would work. Keep in mind that Fedora tends to change frequently and you'll need to be aware of their many updates. I would recommend CentOS, it based on RHEL (redhat's enterprise server), but with some nicer features (like 'yum'). It is very stable and their support/update cycle is much longer.

I have a suggestion:

Search and start reading the hundreds of other threads covering this same exact question. This question gets asked several times a day and to be honest, asking such a question is patently ridiculous when there is SO much discussion on the topic already.

It's like walking into a store and asking what's on sale, when there are fliers, PA announcements, and signs all over the store.

To be honest with you, I have noticed that these days these kind of threads don't get a lot of responses because people get fed up of discussing the same thing everyday. Also searching for similar threads will give you access to previous discussions that maybe helpful to you.

Anyway do you think it wise to run a small companies email and webserver on a machine that will be a game server as well? As for whih distro you should pick, there is no definite answer. One thing that you probably should do is test a few and then go with the one that you think you are most comfortable using and administering. If you are not very familiar with Linux, you are better off installing php, apache, mysql etc during install time instead of trying to install them on your own later, because package management can take time to master.
