which desktop manager is easiest to theme for?
can someone help me? im looking for a desktop manager (enviroment) thats light weight and easy to theme for. I can choose between Win Mac and Lin when i want to use a computer so for me, Lin takes the prize in being configurable and pretty. But i really feel limited to just the themes I can find. Please don't give me theme archive links -__-
I want to be able to make my own themes easily and effectively, what best? |
I think all can be really customized, it's just up to you. Blackbox and Flux are great and can be heavily modified. BBconf is a great tool to change colors, windows placements, buttons and etc, of already made themes for blackbox (and they also work with fluxbox)...
http://blackboxwm.sourceforge.net/ http://bbconf.sourceforge.net/ http://fluxbox.sourceforge.net/ If you have gnome, check out http://www.gnome-look.org/ and if you have KDE, check out http://www.kde-look.org/ for some themes and or/tutorials about creating your owns. For all the WM and DE I've ran, FVWM is the most flexible. It can look like everything you want: http://www.fvwm.org/ Here is a screenshot of my FreeBSD 4.10 with a modified version of Gnome, to look similar to the MacOSX: http://www.geocities.com/kooltux/sna...sd/BSD_OSX.jpg as per see, any WM/DE can be modified to your tastes, with a little time and efforts, indeed ;) |
glorious *hacks fluxbox theme*
btw, is BBconf compatible with fluxbox themes? |
I'd say yes (even though, I never tried it), since Blackbox themes works with Fluxbox. Here is a picture from the theme editor of bbconf:
