Wheres the program installed ?
 

Hi I am quite new to Linux although I have tinkered for quite a while, finnally I have made the move over to Mandrake, from windows. Anyway my problem is that I have downloaded Limeware.bin, after realising that you have to set the permission to be able to execute the file, I then double clicked on it. I was given varios options, run in terminal or run i selected run in terminal, everything seemed to happen so fast, and the screen goes off (terminal) that is. So has it installed ? and if it has where the hell has it installed ? I would appreciate anyone who could help me or contact me on licq on 329336676. it probably has installed it, but i'd just reinstall it again, running it in a terminal properly, not jsue sayign "run in terminal" in kde. open a terminal, typ ./limewire.bin and see what it says. Generally it doens't matter where it is installed to, it will be on your path, as limewire is a crap java program it *might* actually be somewhere else e.g. /usr/local/LimeWire or something. you may have had errors abuot not having java installed... Limewire is crap, try a native gnutella client like http://gtk-gnutella.sf.net or a different network altogether, such as gIFT

if you just want to find something

$whereis [filename]

usually, if it can be found, it will display /usr/bin/limewire: etc

or updatedb then locate <program name>

Your looking for the file runlime.sh in your /home directory to run the program and it's more than likely going to tell you it can not find java so you will have to export the path to java before you run at least this is what I had to do with MDK 8.1 and IIRC it just expanded the file to a sub-directory where you ran the .bin from it may do it differently now.
