Where to find the synaptics package to get touchpad working
Hi.
I was adviced to install the synaptics package, hoping that this will get my touchpad working again. Does anyone know which repo that provides this package, or where I can download it?
If you are using an rpm based system, you could try RPM.pbone. Try updating your current repos first, then doing a search for synaptics. To update your repos from commandline do as root:
Code:
urpmi.update -a
for a .rpm based system, or
Code:
sudo apt-get update
for a .deb based system.
To install said package from commandline do as root:
Code:
urpmi synaptics
or
Code:
sudo apt-get install synaptics

Perhaps the reason you can't find it is because it's gsynaptics? It's listed in the package manager.
Yeah that may be the reason.
It seems like gsynaptics is installed. That's too bad, actually, cause I was hoping that the reason why my touchpad is not working was that the driver was not installed. :/
