Question Where is the automatic module loading scripts at system Boot?

Good afternoon everyone!

1. When the redhat-9 start, dmesg always tells that parport0 module is loaded, with probed irq at #7. However I do not see the irq=7 entry in the /proc/interrupts, until I add a line "options parport_pc io=0x378 irq=7 in /etc/modules.conf

2. I searched through the /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit but not found any script to start parport_pc module. Does anyone knows where redhat put these modules to be automatically loaded when system startsup?

3. Also, I am wondering how to config the ECP port under Linux. Again, I enabled it in BIOS, as "ECP, irq 7, DMA 03", but after system boots, I still see the parport operating in the normal mode SPP.

Thank you very much !

Does your system use an 'initrd.img' file? This is a ramdisk that contains it's own kernel modules and script file.

You could extract this ram disk image file into a directory and examine and modify its contents.

Here is a link on how to to do this:
Modifying the Redhat installer
