Where is the $PATH set for CGI scripts?

I have a user who wants to change the default Python used by his cgi scripts. He is testing his Python scripts using a Python found in /opt, but cgi is using /usr/bin/python. I tried changing that Python and making it point to the /opt Python, but that broke yum. So my next thought is to change the Python that the cgi scripts are using. Where is this defined? Thanks.

On RHEL6.4 it appears to be in /etc/httpd/conf.d/python.conf

Presumably on whichever distro you're running it would be in a similar python.conf wherever your Apache (httpd) software lives.

Thank you. I am running 6.5, and although I have an /etc/httpd/conf.d directory, it does not contain a python.conf.

I thought this was way more complicated that it turned out to be. I opened up a ticket with Red Hat and they told me to include the path to the Python I wanted in the first line.
