where is Mtpaint's preferences window?

I was editing an image, and the only image editor I had on hand was Mtpaint. (I like GIMP, but don't usually keep it installed because of the size.) I tried to crop the image, and Mtpaint kept saying "You have not allocated enough memory in the preferences window." What preferences window is that? MTpaint doesn't have multiple windows like GIMP, and I can't find any Preferences sub-menu in any of Mtpaint's menus. I finally gave up and just installed GIMP; but where was this preferences window in Mtpaint?

Never mind, it was right there in the Image menu, and I overlooked it. How embarrassing.

I guess GIMP must by default allocate enough memory to crop.

I'm not sure I'll keep Mtpaint anymore, because its behavior doesn't make a lot of sense. In that preferences window, I saw at least three numeric settings whose names were too technical for me to understand; so I started playing with them blindly to see what would happen. Changing the "communal layer undo space" seemed to enable cropping; but then, intending to try the other settings, I changed the "communal layer undo space" number back and then just exited the menu for now. So why is it still letting me crop even though the settings are the same?
