Where is Abiword ?
I had Abiword in ASP linux, but it is not in Mandy/redhat,
can we get it free download? |
www.freshmeat.net is now where you should go to find files to download (equivilent to your cnet.com in win).
http://freshmeat.net/projects/abiword/ Also, abiword is on your install CD's, or on an FTP mirror. Cool |
When i install abiword in redhat, it prompts me that i need Abifont.rpm, where can i get it ?
|
I'd just install it from the CD's on your install disc, if you are using Mandrake, use:
urpmi abiword It will take care of the dependencies for you, and save you the headache. :) If Redhat, find the apt-get equivilent tool available, I think it's called Synaptic. Do a search on this site for redhat apt Cool |
|
file ends with *.hash, is for installation ?
|
prolly not
guess it's either data checksum or security related file check if it has execution permission set, if not , no way it can be install file |
Abiword is available from sourceforge.
I would go through their own site: http://abisource.com/download/ as there is a lot more useful information about abiword at that site.. I would definitely NOT install from your CD's, as the abiword developers have been making tremendous progress and it is likely most the versions on CD are quite out of date. I have heard on their mailing list that due to non-standard changes Mandrake has made to libraries there are some dependency problems with that distro, though I believe building from source solves them. If you are ambitious and want the leading edge, you can get the cvs version here: http://abisource.com/developers/download.phtml Note of course that the development version does not always even build (as you ought to expect), but when it does, it rocks. |
I successfully installed Abiword in my redhat,
but has a little problem here: 1) I got to go to /usr/bin/ and type abiword to launch it, how can I put it into the Startup Menu such as Openoffice ? 2)When I run abiword, it prompts me this message “ not able to add fonts to X font path. You may need to modify your font path manually.” So, what must I do ? |
Is not /usr/bin in your path? If you want it in your startup menu, add it the same you would manually add any other application.
What version abiword are you using? If it works, you can go to tools->preferences->PreferenceSchemes and there is a way to turn off the font warning at startup and to modify the unix font path. Try this link: http://abisource.com/twiki/bin/view/Abiword/AbiWordFAQ |
when i shutdown biword, there is an error message.
why? is the rpm file i downloaded incompatible with my redhat ? |
I downloaded files like this:
abiword-plugin-urldict-1_0_4-1_i386 is it to use the command rpm -ivh to install it ? Will it be automatically installed to the Abiword ? |
yeah you can safely assume related rpm packages will be installed so that they work together
|
when i installed, it prompted me that :
libgal.so.21 is needed, where to get it ? |
