Where are the contacts located in evolution?

I am moving to a new system. From Red Hat 8.0 to SuSE 9.1. In the process, I am upgrading from Evolution 1.2.2 to Evolution 1.4.6. On my old system I created a tar file on the evolution folder and moved it to my new system. This worked great for all of my folders and email messages. However, it did not work for my contacts. Evolution 1.4.6 does not recognize my old contacts. Is there another location that the contacts are stored rather than the evolution folder?
