when will firefox implement Netflix playback

I remembered reading Mozilla was going to add html5 with DRM to play netflex. If i recall, it was suppose to happened with firefox 29.

Well so far, it's still not there. Mozilla/firefox is lagging behind google chrome. Why the delay? Did Mozilla change their minds not to do it?

It's still in progress.

You can track it here:

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1015800

The "tree view" should show you how much work it is:

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/showdep...ide_resolved=1

I don't believe Mozilla has ever announced a target version.

Closed source and Open source collide.

Not an exact answer to your question, but have you tried pipelight?
It works reasonably well with firefox. Note it runs in wine and actually runs Microsoft's Silverlight on your system. For me, this is enough to not want to run it on my main system, so I created a dedicated partition with a Mint install for that specific purpose: A bit annoying, but still a whole lot better than having to administrate a Windows install just for DRM stuff...

I also use this install for other "dirty" packages, such as teamviewer and skype...
