I would never use a password manager or form filler that is built in or used by firefox. It just screams security issues to me.

Yeah, I would never use a password manager in my life. The way I look at it, if you need to use one, then you shouldn't be using a computer. Just my three cents...

Personally I use KeePassX (http://www.keepassx.org/), which is a separate program, for the password manager, it will auto-fill to any program and has global shortcuts. For the form filler I use the Firefox auto-fill that is built in and just type the first few letters and pick an option.

I didn't have to add a ppa, it is in the Ubuntu repos, at least since 9.10. The package is "keepassx"

so in Ubuntu,

Code:

sudo apt-get install keepassx

should install it.

KeePassX will fill the Username/Password forms but not other forms, you could use a firefox extension for this.
