Hi, I have just joined and hope this is the correct spot to ask a question. I have been using Moon 4 as my OS for a year or probably more. Suddenly the up-date manager is popping up telling me to do an update but the command doesn't work. A quick look around tells me that MOON as a linus OS is "dormant"
Anyone have any ideas or know a way to update the OS? Thanks. Greetings from Oz.
It was based on Ubuntu 10.10 which has reached its "end of life" and will not receive any more updates. I recommend to back up your data and perform a fresh install of a currently-supported ditribution.

I was hoping for a newer version of Moon, if it is no longer supported then I will have to change to a different OS :-(
I now find that I cannot download programmes from the Software box so the system is really past its use-by-date. This is an interesting lesson...why support a system whose future is bleak?Better to go for one which has lts .. but then, I thought Moon had lts..oh well
I'm not familiar with MoonOS but, if it was based on Ubuntu 10.10 that was not LTS and support for it ended in April of this year. More info on Ubuntu at the site below:
If you are looking for something stable with LTS support, Slackware and Debian would be two good choices but you should be able to find information on any distribution by googling it. If you go to distrowatch and check their Page Hit Ranking you will see what the most popular distributions are and have a good idea of which have been around for some time and are likely to be around.
In my opinion Linux is 49% software and 51% community. I always check that a distribution has a successful track record of multiple releases and a thriving, helpful, friendly community before I install it. (For the record I chose Debian )

I'll do that.I need a system (like Moon, I guess) that installs and works without wireless, printer and other problems which seem to be associated with some distributions.Narrowing my choices to Mint, Fedora or Ubuntu. Thanks for all help.
