What to use to work with disk image files

I had a hard drive crash with the effect of losing my partition information. I was able to get my hands on a DOS program that allows me to view the old partitions. Once it has located the partitions, it gives me the option to save the partitions as image files on another hard disk. The utility does not explain what to use to get the image file back onto another disk in a usable format. Is there a Linux program which might be able to help me in this situation?

It depends on the format of your images.
Maybe this would be enough, from a rescue (live) Linux CD:
Code:
# mkdir /img
# mount -o ro -o loop /path/to/image/file /img
Yves.
