What should my domain name be?

I've never figured out what my domain name should be when I configuring a new machine. I often use my isp's (like comcast.net, or qwest.net), but I'm not sure if that's proper. Recently I didn't enter a domain name at all when I ran the network installer, and I think it may be the reason for my slow sendmail problems.

Just make one up - it's just for informational purposes and won't affect your install. It's only used locally. If you're interested, I just said my domain was "localdomain.org". -- J.W.

If you think resolving domain name is a problem, try doing it by ip only and see if it's faster then. Really, I don't think that what you're asking about matters.

When I type "dnsdomainname -f" it returns "athlon.network" and I'm fine....

I'd go with that fine name, Qwest rocks!

(of course I'm biased) :-P
