I would like to see troopmaster ME ported so that scout troops don't have to shell out lots of money to use the m$ windows version, tried using wine, doesn't work, so a native version would be nice.

I don't want to say the completely bloody obvious but...

Get the most powerful PC you can, get Linux. Get a refurbished G4 or new G5, and get the latest version of OSX. I own one of each, and now I don't think I'm lacking a program for anything. Apple has enough clout to get apps ported to it's OS and well, Linux is Linux.

Between them both, I don't have a single filename on either system with the word "Microsoft" in it and I can do things faster, easier and better than my windows loving friends. Hehehe...

Even a refurb G4 is out of my current price range, yet I was thinking about a refurb G3 Laptop, and for a powerful PC, again to upgrade right now is out of my price range..

For Apple porting apps, they are pretty good about that, but we cannot take advantage of that, the only real way we are going to get the world into linux is if we get more apps ported to linux...

It was indeed very good of them to release the Darwin 7.0 source code. Surprising too! They've embraced open source software like the kings of computing that they are.

Bela214:

I think a lot of the major ISP's are going to Linux. I think Earthlink, Hiwaay, and NetZero all have ports to Linux. I haven't tried the NetZero port yet, though it's for Lindows. If they don't have it yet, they're probably working on it. If not, request it.

Psh, dial-up.... Still take up guys a day and a half to download the latest kernel? Sorry, that was really, really bad. I just have to say that I love my 3MB/s cable, though I wish it were 5MB/s....
