I'd like to see Geosetter ported to Linux. I've explored some of the Linux-based applications that do similar functions (geotagging of digital images), but none are as nicely done as this program.
Have completely weaned myself from Windows with the exception of Family Tree Maker (FTM). For this home user convert to Linux, geneaology/family history consumes almost all of my waking moments. Its a growth industry of huge proportions and FTM is one of the best but having to run a separate OS just to access it is a huge annoyance.
Lacking that I would really like to see a detailed explanation of how to run Linux (specifically PuppY Linux Lupu v5.2) in Windows under Virtual Box. This would allow MaagicJack running in Windows while Puppy is running in a VirtalBox window. I have run Puppy under Qemu, but it is excruciatingly slow. I have heard that VirtualBox is much faster, but I can't muddle my way through the installation.

i would like to see *cough* Microsoft™ OneNote™ *cough* on linux natively some day (lool)
is there any alternative? (especially for the ability to write anywhere on the page when i want to, not like word, to start from the left to the right)

I would love to see Band-in-a-Box ported to Linux. I have an old version that works ok on VirtualBox, but I would pay to have a new version native to Linux.
There's some chess software for Linux. I don't really know what ChessBase is, but perhaps Scid is an alternative. Also, in terms of engines, there's Crafty and Stockfish, amongst others.
