What about The GIMP? Graphic Image Manipulation Program. It is similar in functionality but may lack some of the nifty plugins.
Photostory, not Photoshop. Photostory imports a few images, allows users to narrate something, adds a soundtrack, and produces a movie that has a smooth transition from slide to slide with the narrated background and sound track. A very quick and easy way for students to make good looking presentations. (Someone would have to recreate this.) It could be done with some scripts, ffmpeg, and a nice front end.

I would like to see Legacy and/or Family Tree Maker (FTM) (Genealogy programs) ported to Linux as although Gramps is now quite impressive in what it can do, Legacy and to a lesser degree FTM offer a much wider range of options in this field.

Sorry I should have mentioned this in my previous Post, I seriously would love to see Tom Tom port their GPS software to Linux instead of users having to log in to Windows to update our GPS units, it is positively annoying. I like my Tom Tom GO720 as such but am these days tied to Windows by this one remaining piece of hardware. It seem ridiculous when Tom Tom's own OS on the units is Linux based??? Go figure?
Has no one else requested any INTUIT products? I believe Quickbooks and/or Quicken would be hot sellers if ported over to Linux.
As a Chiropractor I'd like to see something like Lytec Medical or other great office management software package ported over so that we can purge XP once and for all.
Hi,
I am not sure, let me know if it's already in linux, but we all will appreciate if we can get a download manager(cli supported) and a good network monitoring tool (with CLI support), which can tell us about bandwidth utilization/scope (i.e max available download, max available upload) in offline mode also.( i.e when no actual data transfer is in place).
It will help us in making strategy in respect of data backup over network.
I would love to see itunes ported for linux... omg that would be the best thing ever...
would I pay for it?
that's a tad unfair, windows and MAC OS get it for free, why can't linux
AND
I would love to see halo for linux!
would I pay for it?
Duh.
I could probably live on Linux with Lotus Organizer and Garmin Mapsource ported to Linux. Wine doesn't do the trick for them and we have been using them too long to mess about with finding substitutes.
I've seen that come up in previous posts going back years. My wife would use linux if quicken and Turbo Tax were available. I could probably convince her that GNU Cash will balance our checkbooks, but Turbo Tax....
She would pay full price, she gets annual updates at full price for M$ versions now.
I expect it is an issue of license control, they are afraid that porting to linux will unleash an avalanche of illegal copies.... MS can apparently lock down a users rights and prevent illegal use much more easily than linux. So I don't expect to see ports soon.

iTunes works with Wine and PlayOnLinux, but it runs really slow. When it comes to just putting music on my iPod, though, I find that gtkpod works way better than iTunes.

About the download manager I am not sure, but concerning cli network tools Linux is usually far superiour over other OS-es.
jnettop is one of the bandwidth monitors, but there are more. MRTG is the de facto standard, but it is GUI based. (Graphs are better shown in graphics, nothing to do about that)
I need something decent on reading pdf files and able to highlight and add comments. So naturally Acrobat is useful to me. I have tried pdfedit, it has much to improve on. Wish Adobe could either port or help out with pdfedit
Really want to more game titles available on linux platform.
