The most important being Mobile Phone companies porting their Phone software to Linux.

I have a phone, and sadly, I need to use Windows to put stuff in and take out of the phone!
Better if Mobile Phone companies could do this job.

not new but very wished for:
- dreamweaver
- photoshop
- illustrator
- nero

further I experience difficulties in financial apps in production environments. Actually I do not know the names, but support of major vendors of financial software would be desirable as I experience organizations which migrate to Linux but stay with Windows in accounting only for this accounting software...would definitely be worth the money because now it is costing much more by sticking to licenced OS (+ antivir + etc etc)

AutoCAD 200* would be great to have on linux, either that or some real development on an open source CAD program.

Same goes for adobe premiere, or some open source equivalent

I would like to see better PDA support ,

or even PDA running on Linux-derived... this seems all to be one big Windows thing (correct me if I am wrong) except that Evolution can sync sometimes

so vendors of PDA OS, and software coming with PDA's for desktop, make an effort. I would definitely buy the PDA with best Linux compatibility

Time to open the purse :-) in that case. Should stick to the word, not every good thing can be free, though fortunately quite a lot can...

thanx

Lightbulb Better wish for cross-platform applications

It's rather lunatic to think any vendors will listen but they might if you ask for cross-platform. It doesn't cost more than an ordinary Windows port but besides a Linux port they get a Mac port, a Solaris port, a ... port for free. Cross-platform is the way to go, search freshmeat.net for "wyoGuide".

Once in a while I browse thru this list, not so much to see what is wanted, but to see what alternatives are available.

It strikes me that Photoshop comes back again and again as a wanted application.

I am not a specialist in bitmap editing, I only used Corel Photopaint briefly, and now I am learning to use Gimp. For me, Gimp has an overwhelming number of capabilities.

What I am wondering about, all those people who ask for that, did they ever TRY the Gimp? Or does Photoshop really offer that much more?

Also, features that you won't find in GIMP (but exist in Adobe Photoshop, should be conveyed, so they can be added later on.
