wayward4now: Many thanks for shedding some light on google. How people change! They have used redhat as a stepping stone. Too bad.
I have also noticed that as compared to google and yahoo some 10 years back, one does not get relevant info on many topics. This is my observation, which shows that they are no different from ordinary traders.
Many thanks and regards

Heh, when I started computing with an original 1978 garage-built Apple ][ it was all about Open Source. We had the Red and the Blue Books that contained all the source code to the 6502 assembler and Integer and AppleSoft Basic. What a wonderful machine, designed by The Woz. Then Jobs took over and ran the whole thing into the ground, close sourced it, refused to provide an upgrade path for the hardware and basically kicked me and 150 members of our Apple ][ user group under the bus AND our couple grand investments in our full blown machines. (two floppy drives was a grand!)
Every last one of my club members went IBM. It was just another Apple ][ that you could poke around in the innards and that was what appealed to us. Jobs can pound sand for wrecking what The Woz conceived. He hasn't changed one bit. So, I still throw rocks in his general direction. If it wasn't for The Woz (Steve Wozniak) Jobs would be selling toasters in a Wal Mart.
Distribution: RedHat 7.1,(planning to go for suse9.2professional/Mandrake 10.1official powerpack+

I agree on the Wine front - it does seem too slow.
However, I've found that on occasion, applications running via Wine actually out-perform their counterparts running on true Windows. Probably due to the lack of Windows bloat hanging around.
What I'd really like ported to native Linux right now, despite my dislike for Adobe, is Adobe Dreamweaver. I've never yet met another tool for web creation that's as powerful. Even if I never could remember where everything hid from me.
Do not forget that in today's twisted US originated capitalism...
um... we didn't create the model - we only inherited such a wonderful empire from the Romans.

Yeah, I wouldn't spend the money to port major business and development software to BeOS either. But I gather you're not talking about BeOS, so it seems you've been sleeping under a rock for about a decade.

Then don't dude. Only positive and encouraging optimism effect such change. If you have a problem with the Roman Empire, or the proliferation of software across the OS spectrum then feel free to just ride the coattails of the rest of us as we build these roads, while you continue to complain about reaping such benefits as a passive consumer
If I had a wooden nickel for every time I took the kind of advice you just offered I still wouldn't have any wooden nickels.
Do not forget that in today's twisted US originated capitalism only measure of the success is how much profit you created for your investors, here and now.
When Haitian refugees pile into rickety boats to flee their corrupt country, they bypass the glorious communist paradise of Cuba (53 miles away), the Turks & Caicos (110 miles), Jamaica (124 miles), and the Cayman Islands (440 miles). Instead, they head for Florida —— 523 miles away. Why? Do they love "early bird specials" and BINGO night that much? No —— it's because the greedy, evil Capitalists of America still ensure a far better quality of life than any benevolent dictator.

Economics 101: Supply & Demand.
Why don't you move to Venezuela if you are so unhappy. There you don't get to keep the money you work for, submit to the dictators will, and enjoy your crummy house with no hope of bettering your life because of grand old socialism. You won't ever be rich, oh no, and you can enjoy living in squalor on dollars a day as the government evaluates your cost to society and how they will kill you if you do end up costing too much.
Thought so.

@tallship and @leopard: When you read posts, you are supposed to also understand what was written.
I do not whine about anything, I was born as eternal optimist but I am total realist also. @alek01 could not wrap his mind around the fact that it's all about the money with most of the software companies (and companies in general), so I just wrote him realistic explanation.
I don't think such discussions are for this kind of thread so I be very brief. If moderators feel this discussion should be moved elsewhere, I have no problems with it.
From all around the world people are drawn to US by PROMISE of wealth, not actual prosperity. Roman empire fallen when it was corrupt and depraved enough. Unfortunately same destiny will hit all who follow western "spend and destroy without remorse policy". If all countries had US level of consumption we would need resources from 4 Earth's, not just one. That spells doom for posterity on every single language, and believe me I do not wish it. But it IS fact of life.
Country that gives $700 Billion to ruined banks and allow CEO's to treat them self's with bonuses ($1 million per CEO on average?) for ruining countries economy is bound for doom. And that is common sense, not a propaganda.
EVERY SINGLE US citizen owes $42,371 ($118,746 per taxpayer) only for US national debt, and if I read http://www.usdebtclock.org/ correctly personal debt of $52.970 per citizen goes on top of that. On the same web site there is a list of important (for the overview) countries. Take a look at Japan, US and UK's percentage and then take a look at communist China (look at both public and external debts), and tell me which social model is better in reality. If I remember correctly, China now holds ~40% of US national debt, and that % rises constantly. That is why US president Obama never spoke about human rights when he visited China. Every single official, until recently, never missed the chance to condemn China for poor state of human rights, but they stopped abruptly. Hm.
Also, Chinese authorities hanged recently one of their large business moguls when he tried to bribe some officials and then they took all of his wealth. I wish my country had such laws, we would have been ridden from 60-70% of our politicians and "businessman".
The reason we have debt is because of too much regulation.
The Clinton administration was the last time we had a legitimate capitalist economy, and even then excessive regulation was causing problems. Then GWB came in, and really hurt us. Obama is just an outright communist.
And if human rights don't matter to you, then you are x10 worse than any economic system.
Obama is a poor representation of the USA and what we have here. Please take a look at Reagan's administration to understand American ideology.
I really, really, really dislike Obama. His communist policies are whats causing debt, not Capitalism. Understand that Obama is causing problems. Wait till we get a Conservative in office (read: not Republican, but Conservative) and you will not have that argument. That stimulus and now health care are just terrible. I hate them. I cannot and will not defend them either. Thats' all I have to say about trillion dollar bailouts of businesses that do not know how to operate.
And yes, DUH, people come here for opportunity.
Hence, pursuit of happiness.
And you are NO optimist. I'll guarantee that. In fact, you aren't a realist either, because you use OBAMA (hahaha, snicker) as the posterboy for Capitalism (hahaha, snicker).
It would be nice to have some trading software available on linux. MetaTrader4 is running on wine but I much rather have a linux version of it. And something similar to trade station.
