What programs are there for tablet users of ubuntu/linux?

Hello, I was thinking of getting an android tablet, but I'd rather be able to run my regular firefox, open office, and other desktop applications, which android tablets can't do.

So now I'm thinking of getting a used tablet pc (with a keyboard).

My question is: Are there any good table specific apps, or will it pretty much just be a desktop? What do other linux tablet pc users install on their tablets?

-Thanks

I'm not sure if this answers your question but at least as far as desktop environments go I see you're using kubuntu so you might not have had a chance to play with the new gnome (3.x) it is very tablet/touch screen friendly...

That is good, but how functional are the programs when used in touch screen, stuff like firefox, thunderbird, remote dekstop (rdp), ssh, etc?

I guess that's my main concern, though it is a big plus to have a touch friendly interface in gnome. I don't have a touchscreen to test it out on yet.

All of that should be fine if your talking about the tablets that are pretty much laptops with reversible monitors... in fact even if you wanted to run a full x windows distro on a regular tablet (ie iPad, Xoom, etc) I don't believe your primary drawback would be functionality of desktop applications, most of the productivity solutions like Firefox and your office suites should function fairly well. The main shortfall will be how heavy an x windows GUI would be on said tab. But even this can be minimized with the likes of ice or lxde desktop environments...

I'm interested in a similar question so if you decide to make the dive keep us posted on form and function...
